Joint Pain
If you experience joint pain, the case may not be age alone. According to a 2017 survey published in the journal Arthritis Care & Research, 24% of participants with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) said desserts and soda affected their symptoms. Even when joint pain is triggered by an injury, it may get worse if you’re consuming high-sugar foods and drinks.
Studies suggest that eating too much sugar increases the risk of rheumatoid arthritis in some women, including those with late-onset RA.
Excessive intake of sugar may cause systemic inflammation, which can lead to joint pain. However, there are multiple causes of joint pain, so changing your diet by eating less sweet stuff may not be the answer.
