#7 Cooked rice
All rice enthusiasts are probably reading this and thinking we have gone mad. However, hear us out. Cooked rice is known to be at risk of being contaminated with a bacteria called Bacillus cereus. And while most of us count on heat to render most bacteria harmless, this type can actually create toxic spores that are heat-resistant.
This is why you shouldn’t leave rice as a possible leftover and should eat it as soon as possible. You should also not leave it out at room temperature for hours on end. If you have to reheat rice or you do not want to waste food by tossing it, like with chicken, you should make sure all parts of the dish are hot! And if you can only use a microwave, you should always heat once, stir, and then heat again until all the rice is evenly piping hot!
