4. Nuts and Seeds
Nuts are definitely one of the best superfoods you can include in your diet. They have fiber and protein, and they do a great job of making you feel full. However, too many nuts won’t make you healthier.
Doctors recommend eating just a handful as a snack, preferably in the afternoon, and you shouldn’t be starving at dinnertime. Here’s the daily recommendation: one ounce, or 24 almonds, 35 peanuts, 18 cashews, and 15 pecan halves.
Nuts and seeds also have high doses of healthy fats. Chia seeds, flax meal, and walnuts are also superfoods that provide omega-3 fats, which are known to help protect your brain and prevent stroke and heart disease, among other health benefits.
Here’s one thing you may want to remember: according to a 2021 study, eating a hot dog could shorten your healthy life expectancy by 36 minutes while having a serving of nuts could give you an extra 26 minutes.
