It is known that as we become older, the risk of heart disease and stroke increases. One way to help reduce your risk is eating superfoods that are great sources of potassium, like bananas. This being said, make sure you grab some next time you’re doing groceries.

A study of women between the ages of 50 and 70 discovered that those who consumed the highest amount of potassium had the lowest risk of having a stroke. According to the World Health Organization, potassium may also help lowering blood pressure.

The recommended daily amount of potassium is 4,700 milligrams. One banana provides 400 milligrams, while a medium avocado has 700 milligrams.
