Best sweet: Cacao
Yes, you probably didn’t think we would be adding anything sweet to the best of the best list, but here we are! Cacao is actually really good for your health as it contains a lot of antioxidants (and if you’re sick of us mentioning them, know that they boost your immune cell activity, which will destroy unwanted viruses, pollutants, and free radicals in your body; so yes, they are important).
Not only that, but cacao is also the food item that is most packed with iron that you could introduce to your diet. It also has other minerals and nutrients that are beneficial to your health. But what we are all waiting to see is how you can eat it. After all, you cannot just count on a decadent chocolate cake and call that healthy (though it is an occasional treat you can allow yourself to have).
The best way is to either add homemade sugar-free hot chocolates to your beverage lists or learn to make a chocolate latte (which may just be the same thing). Add other good ingredients (like cayenne; more on that later) and enjoy it on a cold season night. You can also buy chocolate bars, but you should aim to get the dark chocolate ones: the higher the cacao percentage, the less sugar, and believe us, it’s not that bitter!
