5. Cheese
Speaking of meals with cheese, this is another food you should avoid if you have elevated cholesterol levels. According to the National Cancer Institute, cheese is the No. 1 food source of cholesterol-raising fat in the American diet.
This food is high in cholesterol, but as the USDA Dietary Guidelines point out, there’s no clear link between the cholesterol-packed foods that an individual eats and their blood cholesterol levels.
However, it’s known that the saturated fat in cheese is responsible for raising cholesterol levels. An ounce serving of cheese contains about 5 grams of saturated fat, depending on the type of cheese you’re having. And most people don’t just stop at a single ounce of cheese.
If you’re a cheese-lover willing to reduce consumption of the worst foods for high cholesterol, consider this a wake-up call to become more mindful of how much cheese you eat.

All this info was a good idea I’m happy to know more about this thank you
THERE is the case for vegetarianism! Unrefined plant matter is devoid of cholesterol! No matter how you look at it, eating dead animal bodies (carrion) is a losing deal…
These words of wisdom are gifted to you by that sage— Feral Tomm—
There goes 75% of my diet. I eat almost all these foods on a regular basis. Thanks for reccomending alternatives. Time for big changes.
The main reason of high cholesterol is no fiber in our diets!
These recommendations are way off. Anything with fake sugar like HFCS, Corn Syrup, etc. causes your cholesterol to rise. Avoid white sugar and artificial sweeteners. You can eat as much egg, steak, cheese, etc, as you want. When my husband eliminated processed “sugars” his cholesterol dropped 80 points. This was 20 years ago. I did my research online and discovered it’s the man-made sugars that cause your body to make cholesterol. He eats pork sausages, steaks, eggs, maple syrup, sucanat(sugar cane natural), honey etc. to his heart’s content.
Agree!!!! People need to research the food pyramid that we were pushed into following…which is when society began to fight weight gain. Most doctors do not recommend a vegetarian diet…Vegana snd vegetarians are freuently found to be woefully anemic, amd also deficient of other nutrients….some that you can’t get from a plant of grain source. There are two kinds of “fat”…one is extemely healthy for your body and one isn’t ….also Pork has niacin and thiamine that our bodies need and it the best way to get it. Eggs have been given a bad rap for decades and they have changed the narritvie on their erroneous claims…egs are actually one of THE most perfect food that God create for humans As with pretty much everything, if you aren’t strong enough to control your portions, you will challenge your physiology. NEVER jusmp on a “Bandwagon,” based by what someone says about what’s good and /or bad for us….it’s usually somone trying to scare us into their personal agenda.
Sandy, you are right on point. The FDA just doesn’t want to change their food pyramid.
What are the damn foods,no one want watch your long video
A good article I think everyone should read. It should also be mentioned, we’re all different. The details count. You know who you are. Our bodies make cholesterol. If we consume too much cholesterol, our bodies will make less. Exercise, sleep, a clean diet and no stress are all important details that should be considered.
Yes, every one of them. Now I have a list of 14 people that I will totally ignore no matter what. 5 of them were already there. Lunatics.
My go to snack, several nights a week, has been microwave popcorn. Wow! Good to know…and cutting out sugar Sandy!!
Eggs are so good..I try not to eat them ..maybe just twice a week!
I’m 67 and recently a widower. I have been eating all the wrong stuff! When your my age and can only manage to cook a few things that are fit to eat, (everything on this list) it’s hard. Especially when cooking for just one.
A statement of the obvious, but informative. The required bloviating vegetarian was a nice touch. I hear in some principalities it is illegal to not include a condescending oratory. Nobody, seriously, nobody cares what you eat. Why the fascination with everybody else?
I’m on the carnivore diet almost a year now. No vegetables. No carbs. I feel the best I’ve felt in 30years! I tried veganism for awhile. It lead to kidney stones and a list of other problems that are now gone thanks to the carnivore diet.
Blah, Blah & Blah!! I don’t sit around all day eating these foods & I’ve heard the BS about eggs & that turned out to not be true what they said in the past. None of us are getting out of here alive & I will enjoy what I want to eat until I die!!
The CDC said mRNA was safe and effective, only need one shot, then two shots, then annual shots for every variant. Sounds like flu shots, since it’s a manmade virus, they say are needed annually that may or may not help. The FDA approves dyes, artificial sugars, and other additives with no idea of the short or long term side effects. Until we clean house of this corruption of mislead Doctors, Scientists, Politicians, and others regurgitating what they either were falsely taught or paid to say, every person for themselves.
Harvard medical student ate over 700 eggs in a month — and his cholesterol levels actually dropped. NY POST
