Slimy And Moldy Produce
Most of us can’t resist a good deal. But in all honesty, we sometimes buy more vegetables and fruits than we can actually eat.
Even though the frugal part of us wants to cut off that moldy piece and eat the part that’s still ok, in terms of food safety, the entire thing should be chucked in the trash. Keep in mind that mold has roots.
So even if it doesn’t look bad everywhere, the whole piece has probably been contaminated. The same goes if you see your produce looking slimy.
That slippery white coating means that your fruit or veggies have already begun to rot. That’s your sign to throw it out. Or better yet, why not start a compost pile?
