Studies say that moderate consumption of red wine can be very beneficial for heart-related problems because it boosts the level of HDL in the body.

Red wine contains a polyphenol named resveratrol which is a compound found in the skins of grapes. This resveratrol protects and helps the cardiovascular system to perform better.

Also, this superfood works as an antioxidant and prevents the blood cells from damaging too early, combating oxidative stress.

Because the main cause of heart attacks is bad cholesterol, superfoods in general (red wine included) manage to increase the good cholesterol HDL and remove low-density lipoprotein from the arteries.
