Rice
You might not have thought about this, but you’ll end up with crispy rice around the edge and undercooked rice in the middle when cooking this grain in a slow cooker.
Considering it only takes approximately 20 to 30 minutes to cook, it’s easier to just stick to a saucepan. Extra time is the enemy in this case.
Shellfish
We’re not even going to mention the disgusting smell it’ll give your slow cooker. There’s another good reason you should avoid putting shellfish in this nifty appliance. Shellfish cooks somewhat fast, which is the opposite of what a slow cooker is intended to do.
When it’s slow-cooked, the delicate shellfish meat tends to deteriorate. And even though regular fish is a bit heartier, we recommend keeping it out of your slow cooker because it’s still relatively delicate and tends to break apart when cooked this way.

Thanx u for interesting information.
Wow! I’ve been using dry pinto beans or great northern beans without soaking in my slow cooker for years…sometimes I put a frozen smoked pork hock in before starting it on high…comes out great every time…no worries here (~.~)
