How to include bananas in a proper diabetes diet

If you suffer from diabetes, we have a couple of tips that might help you eat your favorite fruits while keeping adequate blood sugar in check. First, we’d suggest you combine bananas with foods that are higher in protein and fat. It will slow down digestion, but also the absorption of sugar.

For instance, add a banana to a smoothie that has chia seeds or flaxseeds in its mixture. Or, alternatively, eat a banana alongside ice cream, oatmeal cakes, or even a handful of nuts. Also, try eating greener bananas because, as I said earlier, they have higher amounts of resistant starch and are lower in sugar.

And, of course, remember: if you eat smaller bananas, you’ll lower the amount of sugar that enters your blood. If you go with bananas that are a bit on the greener side and pair them with protein and another fat source, you’ll stabilize your blood sugar levels.

  1. I AM A DIABETIC, I EAT BANANAS FREQUENTLY. THIS WONDERFUL FRUIT WAS CREATED BY THE LORD GOD HIMSELF FOR OUR ENJOYMENT AND CONSUMPTION. THEREFORE I TAKE EVERYTHING IN STRIDE AND LEAN ON THE IMPRESSIONS I FEEL IN MY SPIRIT. FOR ME, CONTRARY TO WHAT “NEW” SCIENCE SAYS, I WILL HARDLY CONTINUE TO EAT GOOD FRESH BANANAS WITH FULL CONFIDENCE THAT THEY DO SOMETHING TO IMPROVE MY WELL-BEING. THANK YOU.

    1. John, I think you mean you will HEARTILY CONTINUE TO EAT BANANAS, NOT HARDLY…Spellchecker not always helpful! Lol Enjoy those delicious bananas.

  2. I was told that bananas are not good for me because I’m a diabetic, but I need to eat them or the potassium in them. I have bone narrowing problems and bananas helps with that. so, I have my cake and eat it too.
