Salmon
Salmon is one of the most beloved fatty fishes out there, and it’s also a wonderful source of vitamin D. As the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food Composition Database found out, only one 3.5-ounce piece of farmed Atlantic salmon has 526 IU of vitamin D, which is a great deal.
Whether you believe it or not, you need to pay attention if the salmon is wild or farmed, as it can make a huge difference in the vitamin D content. On average, wild-caught salmon contains more vitamin D, but it gets even more interesting: apparently, the conditions under which the salmon was caught matter a great deal.
Another study proved that the vitamin D content of salmon that comes from the Baltic Sea ranged somewhere between 556 and 924 IU of vitamin D per 3.5-ounce serving, which makes it 70–111% of the DV.
