4. Apples

An apple a day keeps the doctor away! This old saying is so funny, but it’s also very true. Apples are one of the most affordable fruits that anyone must have in their house. Why? They are rich in antioxidants, especially the skin, which is why doctors highly recommend eating them whole without peeling.

Moreover, apples are high in soluble fibers that can help you have normal and healthy digestion, and one of the most amazing properties of apples is that they can help you lower high cholesterol levels. It has been proven that a person who consumes two or three apples a day has a better immune system compared to another person who doesn’t eat apples at all.

Are you looking for a healthy snack, but you don’t feel like munching on chips or other unhealthy foods? Apples can be a very good option. You can either eat them raw or you can bake them. Cut the apples in half, remove the seeds, and pour half a teaspoon of cinnamon over them. Bake them in the oven for 10 minutes, and then enjoy! Don’t forget that apples contain a lot of vitamin C. That’s why it’s highly recommended to eat them every day, but especially during the cold months of the year.

5. Cinnamon

Cinnamon is definitely one of the best spices that everybody should have in their kitchen. Besides the fact that it tastes delicious, cinnamon has a lot of other health benefits as well. Studies have shown that taking cinnamon daily as a supplement might help you reduce cholesterol in a more natural way than by taking pills.

I wish I knew about this a couple years ago when I had very serious issues dealing with cholesterol. Furthermore, cinnamon also aids in the efficient use of insulin by the body and lowers blood sugar levels by up to 30%. Amazing, right? Did you know that cinnamon is mostly recommended by most nutritionists as a natural sweetener? It can be used to spice up your baked apples, your pancakes, or any other homemade cakes. Isn’t it awesome? Instead of using refined sugar, we can use cinnamon, which is way more natural and healthier!

6. Dark leafy greens

Salads are a healthy and easy option to include in your daily diet. What would be your first choices? I would go for dark leafy green vegetables like baby spinach, arugula, rucola, kale, and dandelion greens. These five delicious vegetables are the most essential foods in any senior’s diet because they are high in vitamin K, which helps you reduce bone fragility that happens over a certain age. To easily consume your daily Vitamin K requirement, add these greens to your salad or include them into a spaghetti sauce. You will end up loving them so much that you will want to eat them every day! Trust me!
