They’re linked to a lowered risk of heart disease
It’s already well known that high LDL levels are connected to an advanced risk of heart disease. But many people don’t know that LDL is divided into subtypes established on the size of the particles.
Many studies have shown that people with predominantly small, dense LDL particles have a higher chance of heart disease than those with predominantly large LDL particles.
Even if eggs might mildly raise LDL cholesterol in some people, it’s believed that eating them will mainly increase large LDL levels instead of the small, dense particles, which explains the association with reduced risk of heart disease.
But, some recent studies have found egg consumption to be connected with an increased risk of death from heart disease. So the results are mixed, and more randomized controlled trials are required to confirm the benefits of egg consumption to heart health.
…So what do YOU think? Are the health benefits of eggs worth it?
