Cherry Pits
Yes, you read that right! When you are trying to tie a cherry stem with your tongue, make sure to avoid doing anything to the pit! They are part of the toxic foods you should be wary of, but not in the way you may imagine. If you happen to accidentally swallow an intact pit, you should not freak out because of it; they are perfectly fine like that; it will just leave your system through the other end!
However, you should never crush, eat, or munch on cherry pits! The center of the stone contains high quantities of prussic acid, which is more commonly known as cyanide, and eating it crushed can easily lead to cyanide poisoning! You can easily make yourself sick by eating crushed cherry pits, and depending on the type of crushed cherry pits you are eating, it can take as little as 4 pits to poison yourself!
