5. You don’t sleep well

Believe it or not, high amounts of sodium intake can even lead to sleep trouble, especially if you consume a lot of salty things before going to bed.

People who eat more sodium than the recommended daily value might need to go to the bathroom more often, which disrupts their sleep, and makes it harder to fall asleep and rest again. Other symptoms include not feeling refreshed when you wake and feel the need to cover yourself with a blanket and hit the snooze button over and over again.

The worst thing about this is that when you don’t sleep enough, you end up feeling tired throughout the day, you might not be as productive as you want to be, and you might experience increased hunger as a way to cope with being tired.

And if you’re peckish and you eat other foods that are high in sodium, you’ll actually make yourself the victim of a vicious cycle, so pay attention to your diet, because it can affect your life in many ways.
