Whole grains are a great way to get your daily dose of carbohydrates and energy. White bread, white pasta, and white rice are all examples of processed carbohydrates that might do more damage than good when it comes to keeping you energized.
That’s in part due to the fact that processing removes the bran, the grain’s outer covering that contains fiber. This means that compared to whole grains, processed grains have less fiber and are absorbed and digested more rapidly.
As a result, after consuming a meal or snack high in processed grains, people might experience a rapid increase in blood sugar and insulin levels, followed by a slump in energy.

My wife is Korean and has eaten short-grain white rice every day of her life since the age of 3. She’s over 60 now and is almost as active and energetic as she was when she was 30 (she owns and operates her own business, which requires a good deal of physical and mental effort). If you sit around and do nothing most of the time, then rice can be bad for you, but so can avocados and prune juice.
