Some research suggests that eating a nutritious snack like peanut butter a few hours before you go to bed can actually improve your health.

1 meta-analysis found that healthy men who ate a short, protein-rich snack before bed had greater gains in overnight muscle protein synthesis, morning metabolism, and satiety compared to those who didn’t indulge in any PB before bed.

Moreover, consuming a good dose of protein before bedtime has been shown in another small study, including active college-aged males, to boost metabolism the following morning.

However, other sources say that it might not be the best idea to consume PB before you go to sleep since it’s high in calories and your body won’t have enough time to burn them.

If you decide to give this 1 a go, make sure you only eat a teaspoon of peanut butter so you don’t overeat and give your body the chance to use the proteins and fats to repair your muscles.
