6. An apple a day prevents the occurrence of colon cancer

Cancer cells present in your colon need specific agents for their destruction. So where do we get those special agents from? Well, apples contain natural fibers that generate certain chemicals responsible for warding off the prevailing cancer cells when going through the fermentation process in the colon.

Several researchers studied the health benefits of different types of apple-based antioxidants, and the results are pretty encouraging. They exposed cancer cells to see if these antioxidants (known as polyphenols) slowed down tumor growth.

Indeed, polyphenols appear to be potent colon cancer fighters. This being said, an apple a day can help you reduce your risk of colon cancer, so make sure you have plenty of them in your fruit basket.
