7 Reasons Why Every Diabetic Should Eat Bananas

Then, how do bananas affect your blood pressure?

People who suffer from diabetes should watch out when it comes to eating carbohydrate-rich foods, and that’s because carbs raise your blood sugar way more than any other nutrient. This basically means that the type of carbs you choose might significantly impact overall blood sugar management.

Besides, high-carb foods seem to have a higher ranking in the glycemic index, which is a 100-point scale that is meant to measure just how fast your blood sugar levels increase depending on what you eat. For those who do not suffer from diabetes, things are different, as their pancreas releases insulin right into the bloodstream when their blood sugar spikes. Then, digestion takes the sugar out of the blood and right into the cells, where it is later used for energy and even stored.

But people with diabetes are either unable to produce that much insulin or their bodies can’t use the insulin as they’re supposed to. As bananas are high in sugar, they might cause blood sugar to rise more than any other food would. In fact, as the Department of Agriculture’s FoodData Central proved, one medium banana has 27 grams of carbs and 14 grams of sugar.

  1. I AM A DIABETIC, I EAT BANANAS FREQUENTLY. THIS WONDERFUL FRUIT WAS CREATED BY THE LORD GOD HIMSELF FOR OUR ENJOYMENT AND CONSUMPTION. THEREFORE I TAKE EVERYTHING IN STRIDE AND LEAN ON THE IMPRESSIONS I FEEL IN MY SPIRIT. FOR ME, CONTRARY TO WHAT “NEW” SCIENCE SAYS, I WILL HARDLY CONTINUE TO EAT GOOD FRESH BANANAS WITH FULL CONFIDENCE THAT THEY DO SOMETHING TO IMPROVE MY WELL-BEING. THANK YOU.

    1. John, I think you mean you will HEARTILY CONTINUE TO EAT BANANAS, NOT HARDLY…Spellchecker not always helpful! Lol Enjoy those delicious bananas.

  2. I was told that bananas are not good for me because I’m a diabetic, but I need to eat them or the potassium in them. I have bone narrowing problems and bananas helps with that. so, I have my cake and eat it too.
