Sugary and highly refined cereals
Even if they’re a sweet and tasty treat, sugary cereals won’t take you very far. They’re loaded with sugar and very low in protein, which means they will rapidly increase your blood sugar levels. This might lead to irritability and hunger, as the blood-sugar-reducing hormone insulin sets in.
On the same note, unsweetened cereals such as corn and bran flakes are very low in protein, as they only have 2 grams of protein per cup. Even if they have less added sugar, they’re still not the best thing you can eat to start your day. Granola isn’t any better: it’s also loaded with added sugars, which cause obesity, type 2 diabetes, but also various heart diseases.
