5. Hot dogs

They are without a doubt the national symbol of the baseball games, but they are also some of the unhealthy proteins that you should probably eat less of.

We know that they taste amazing and that they have a lot of interesting variations, but most hot dogs are full of calories and saturated fat.

Regularly consuming hot dogs and other processed meats can raise your chance of developing cardiovascular disease. One basic hot dog has 480 mg of sodium and 5 grams of saturated fat.

This means if you eat one of these hot dogs, you will consume 25% and, respectively, 21% of the daily maximum.

Furthermore, some people avoid hot dogs because they contain nitrites and nitrates, which have been linked to various types of cancer. If you’re in the mood for a hot dog, there are numerous healthier types available on the market.

Made from lower-fat meats and with little to no nitrites and nitrates.
